SAN ANTONIO – If you bought a new laptop, tablet or smartphone between 2000 and 2011, you may be eligible for some cash payback.
A near-$45 million class action lawsuit settlement will be divvied up early next year. The suit was filed against lithium ion battery makers for claims of price fixing.
To file a claim, you must have bought a qualifying device. Chances are pretty good that you did because they include smartphones, laptops, tablets, digital cameras, camcorders and cordless tools.
If you have no receipt, no problem. No proof of purchase is required. How much you receive will depend on how many people file claims. The deadline to file a claim is Nov. 29.

People who bought various "active natural" Aveeno hair and skincare products from May 7, 2007, through June 13, 2017, for personal use may have cash coming their way.
Johnson & Johnson settled a class action lawsuit over misstatements about "active natural" ingredients.
Claimants may receive up to $50 total or $2.50 per product without proof of purchase. There is no limit on the number of products with proof of purchase.
Claims must be submitted by Feb. 4, 2018.
