A survey of more than 7,000 consumers reported by National Retail Federation gave insight into what people will be celebrating as this year.
Top 10 costumes for adults:
Witch
"Batman" character (Batman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, etc.)
Animal (Cat, dog, giraffe, etc.)
Pirate
Marvel superhero (Spiderman, Captain America, etc.)
Vampire
Zombie
DC Superhero/"Star Wars" (Excludes Batman and Wonder Woman)

Halloween spending is set to top $9 billion in 2017, according to NRF’s annual Halloween Spending Survey.
That figure tops last year’s record-breaking $8.4 billion.
Consumers are expected to spend an average of $86.13 on Halloween, up from $82.93 in 2016.
