'A Cutting Perspective': Barbershop owner shares thoughts, insights into success

Lords Barbershop on Pleasanton Road is dream come true for Jose Flores

SAN ANTONIO – Jose Flores is one of the youngest barbershop owners in San Antonio.

Flores, 27, began cutting hair in Mexico, but owning a barbershop was his dream.

He moved to San Antonio five years ago, and after working at different places, he decided to open his own shop, Lords Barbershop at 3751 Pleasanton Road.

"Little by little, we have been growing the business. More barbers," Flores said in Spanish.

Flores employs 16 barbers, all of whom share conversations about music, sports and community issues.

The barbers have families, and they believe better education and security are always needed.

"More security because I have kids. It would be better with more security," Flores said.
