SAN ANTONIO – A Northeast Side man has been arrested in connection with robbery of a 79-year-old woman and her disabled husband during a home invasion.
Hector Bernal, 23, is charged with aggravated robbery.
Police believe Bernal is one of two men who barged into a home in the 400 block of Country Lane on Jan. 10 and stole about $100,000 worth of jewelry and two shotguns from a couple at gunpoint, an arrest affidavit stated.
The woman told police she tried to grab the suspect's gun during the robbery but was unsuccessful.
According to the affidavit, police said they tracked down Bernal through an anonymous tip they received from a caller who said Bernal had told her about the crime.
Detectives confirmed the caller had information that only the robber would know.
The affidavit stated investigators also found Bernal's girlfriend wearing a pair of unique earrings which belonged to the victim.
Bernal was being held at the Bexar County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
