New show features Texas country artists

'Texas Music Scene' airs on KSAT Saturday night

A new show that offers Texas musicians a state-wide audience now airs in 16 television markets, including San Antonio.

The program, which is called "Texas Music Scene," airs Saturday nights on KSAT-12, after the Nightbeat.

The show's producer, Tom Hoitsma, likens it to a cross between VH-1's "Storytellers" and "MTV Unplugged."

"It's not one act for an hour, it's four bands every half hour. So it's like doing four concerts and compressing them," said Hoitsma.

The show launched in Dallas in October, 2011, and made its debut on KSAT in January.

Artists already featured include Pat Green, Jack Ingram, Stoney LaRue, and Kris Kristofferson.
