Authorities describe 'huge' drug raid

Officials call area-wide raid 'biggest in years'

SAN ANTONIO – New information was released Wednesday in the wake of a major drug raid in the greater San Antonio area on Tuesday.

A joint task force arrested 10 members of what they called a cocaine distribution ring.

Four separate locations were raided, including homes in San Antonio, Lytle, and Pleasanton. Thousands of dollars in expensive assets, like TVs and cars, were seized.

Authorities are calling this raid one of the largest in recent memory.

The suspects are accused of transporting hundreds of kilograms of cocaine since 2010. More than 350 kilograms have been seized by authorities since then, as well as millions in profits that were to be shipped back to Mexico.

Authorities refused to say if the group is connected to Mexican drug cartels, but they did say shipments are coming from the south and profits being sent back.

Four of the 10 people arrested are Mexican nationals.

Those arrested include: Jose Villegas-Martinez, age 46; Andrew Martinez, age 28; Israel Castillo, age 27; Delfina Castillon, age 44; Robert Vicente Ochoa, age 48; Juan Jaime Trevino, age 26; Julio Villegas, age 20; Avelino Villegas-Martinez, age 44; Abel Pacheco, age 31; Juan Vicente Medina, age 37; and, Jose Villegas, Jr., age 28.
