Cell phone GPS leads police to home invasion suspects

3 arrested at West side home after home invasion on Waverly Avenue

SAN ANTONIO – The GPS system in a cell phone that three men are accused of stealing helped police find directions to the West side home where they allegedly were hiding.

San Antonio police said the cell phone was one of several items taken during an early morning home invasion in the 1200 block of Waverly Avenue.

Officers at the scene said three men barged into the home around midnight Friday, ransacked the home and took several items, including electronics, a cell phone and an SUV.

At least three people were inside the home during the robbery and were not hurt.
Officers later got access to the GPS system in the phone and used it to track the location of the suspects.

They said they caught all three men outside a home on Green Park Street where one of them lives. Police have not released their names.
