SAN ANTONIO – Metro Health inspectors recently forced two San Antonio restaurants to close their doors for a variety of violations.
BJ's Taqueria (Benny's) located at 1359 Kirk Place off Cupples Road failed their latest health inspection with 41 demerits and had their license to operate suspended on Oct. 25.

The inspector reported raw sewage spilling from a pipe and black sludge around the grease trap, both on the outside of the building.
There were a wide variety of other violations for things like unsafe food temperatures and restaurant cleanliness.
The manager tells KSAT Behind the Kitchen Door they have had the pipe and grease trap fixed, and made all other corrections. Those major issues were fixed and the restaurant was allowed to reopen the day after it was shut down.
East Buffet located at 5830 Bandera Road just inside Loop 410 failed with 40 demerits and was shut down by Metro Health on Oct. 28.
The Mongolian, sushi and seafood restaurant was forced to close due to a roach problem.
The staff was told to call in pest control, clean up dead and live roaches, and clean and sanitize everything to keep the insects from coming back.
The manager was not there when KSAT Behind the Kitchen Door called for a comment. Metro Health said East Buffet was reinspected two days later. The staff had made the necessary corrections and the restaurant was reopened two days later on Oct. 30.
