After reports of previous fires surfaced in the wake of a devastating blaze at the Lasses Townhomes on Monday, San Antonio fire officials confirmed at least two other fires there in the last two years.
Monday's fire was blamed on a malfunctioning heater and damaged all eight units in the building, located in the 2800 block of Lasses.

At least 14 adults and seven children were displaced due to that fire.
While roaring flames and billowing smoke could be seen shooting through the roof of the building, a man who lives across the street told KSAT 12 it wasn't the first time in recent memory that fire crews responded to that complex.
On Tuesday morning, San Antonio fire spokeswoman Deborah Foster confirmed that assertion.
She said on April 12, 2013, a fire was started "by discarded smoking materials into a kitchen garbage can." She said the fire was contained to the kitchen and no one was injured. Damage related to that fire was estimated at $5,000 to property and $1,000 to contents.
Before that, on Jan. 25, 2011, a fire began "between the walls of units 23 and 24 and was believed to be electrical in nature." Damage was estimated at $100,000 to property and $12,000 to contents.
There has been no official estimate of damage related to Monday's fire, but San Antonio fire Chief Charles Hood said all eight units in that building were left unlivable.
Despite the the recent fires at the Townhomes complex, Foster said it does not have any outstanding code violations.
