Employees safely escape fire at Wendy's restaurant in San Antonio

Smoke pours into eatery in 7000 block of Culebra Road

At least four employees safely escaped a fire at a Wendy's restaurant early Thursday on the city's Northwest Side.

Firefighters said an air conditioning unit on the roof overheated, causing smoke to pour into the fast-food restaurant in the 7000 block of Culebra Road.

It didn't take long for firefighters to arrive at the eatery, which is right across the street from Fire Station 35.

A damage estimate wasn't immediately available.
