Family mourns couple killed in motorcycle crash

Cycle struck by car on Hwy. 90; Lucy Borrego, 52, Adam Basquez, 51, killed in crash

Lucy Borrego, 52, and Adam Basquez, 51, had two loves-- each other and riding motorcycles, according to Borrego's family.

"They loved to do that, it was their freedom, she would say," Lupe Borrego-Aleman said Sunday as she looked at pictures and remembered her older sister and Basquez.

The couple was killed instantly early Saturday when the motorcycle they were riding was struck broadside by a car at the west Bexar County intersection of Highway 90 West and Mechler Lane. They had just left "The Bike Stop," a popular hangout for motorcyclists on Highway 90 West.

The manager said the pair were regular customers and described them as a loving couple.

Julie Jensen said that Borrego and Basquez were planning to return in the morning to join several others for a day-long ride through the Texas Hill Country.

"Today there was a ride planned, but it's not going to happen," Jensen said as she choked back tears.

Borrego's sister, too, was in tears as she talked about her loss.

"I'm not ever going to hear her voice, or feel her hugs or her kisses or anything like that," she said.

She described her sister as someone always willing to help others.

"She would do anything for anyone," Aleman said. "She would give her shirt off her back to help people."

Funeral arrangements for the couple are pending.
