2 killed in shootout at NW San Antonio apartment identified

Victims identified as Zachary Manciu, 19, Mikhal Moore, 20

San Antonio police are searching for a second man who invaded an upstairs apartment at the Avistar at Chase Hill complex overnight, leading to a deadly gun battle inside that Northwest Side home.

SAN ANTONIO – The two men killed in a shootout inside a Northwest Side apartment have been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.

Zachary Manciu, 19, and Mikhal Moore, 20, were fatally shot around 2 a.m. Wednesday in an upstairs apartment at the Avistar at Chase Hill complex in the 15800 block of Chase Hill Boulevard.

San Antonio police said two men forced their way into the apartment and began demanding the residents' property.

At least one of the intruders was armed with a gun, and got into a shootout with someone in a bedroom who had a shotgun, police said.

One of the intruders and a man who either lived in or was visiting the apartment both died as a result of the gunfire, police said.

According to one officer at the scene, it appears the man with the shotgun killed that intruder, and also may have shot his friend accidentally.

The medical examiner has not determined who was the intruder or resident. The second intruder was able to run away and remained at-large Wednesday night.

Police have not said if the robbery was random, or if the residents may have been targeted purposely.
