Man arrested in child's kidnapping

3-year-old Dante Damien Williams found safe

SAN ANTONIO – A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a 3-year-old San Antonio boy who was the subject of an AMBER Alert.

San Antonio police said Dante Damien Williams was reported missing at 4:45 p.m. Friday.

Police said Dante's mother and her boyfriend walked into a restaurant in the 200 block of Downshire Drive on the city's North Side and left the little boy in the car with a friend of the boyfriend identified by police as Michael Daniel Grohman.

Seconds later, Grohman drove off with Dante, police said.

An AMBER Alert was issued and a few hours later police officers spotted Grohman and Dante in the car in the 300 block of San Pedro Avenue.

Grohman was arrested and Dante was recovered unharmed.

"We were able to get information, get pictures out to the media very quickly," said Sgt. Javier Salazar of the San Antonio Police Department. "We got an AMBER Alert out. We put it on our social media. Basically, we blanketed the city and this region with the information on this child."

Police said living conditions at the child's home were "less than ideal."

Child Protective Services is investigating.
