SAPD 'superheroes' visit kids at hospital

Kids at North Central Baptist get Halloween treat

SAN ANTONIO – Kids at North Central Baptist Hospital got a special Halloween treat Friday when a group of superheroes came to visit.

Batman, Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Captain America were all called into service to makes sure the kids had smiles on their faces for Halloween.

The superheroes, actually members of the San Antonio Police Department's SWAT Team, rappelled down the side of the building, looking into the windows to give the kids a thrill.

"Coming down, putting smiles on their faces, made my day," said Joe Mascorro, who was dressed as Spider-Man.

"It's worth all the planning and time that goes into it to put this together. To see the look on their faces was just worth every bit, really," said Sgt. David Anderson, dressed as Batman.

"I think it was very impressive because I don't see a lot of people doing that," said Kally Guerrero, one of the kids who enjoyed the show.

After seeing the heroes in action, the kids got to meet them at a reception before heading out to trick or treat throughout the hospital.

"This is good. She was worried because she was ready to celebrate Halloween. We didn't know this was going to happen," said Salvador Guerrero, Kally's Father.

"I love it because it helps take off the pressure and pain of being stuck in bed," said Jamie Garza, the mother of another patient.
