SAN ANTONIO – A 24-year-old man is facing a charge of injury to a child for allegedly disciplining a 4-year-old girl and leaving her bruised after she wet her pants.
Justin Castillo was booked into the Bexar County jail on Tuesday.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that the child was injured on or about Oct. 28, but she was taken to a hospital on Nov. 4.
The affidavit stated the child was found to have bruises on the front and back of her neck, as well as on her face and head.
The child's mother told San Antonio police that she saw Castillo discipline her daughter for wetting her pants by grabbing the child by the back of the neck and pushing her into a wall, the affidavit stated.
However, Castillo denied hurting the girl and told police she was injured when she fell off a bed.
He was not arrested at that time, but the girl was placed into the home of another relative while police investigated the incident.
On Nov. 8, Bexar County sheriff's deputies responded to the relative's home for a disturbance and found Castillo there, attempting to visit the girl, the affidavit stated.
Deputies reportedly found two shotguns in his car although they noted that he did not attempt to use them during the disturbance, the affidavit stated.
When Castillo was booked into jail on Tuesday, his bond was set at $15,000.
