SAN ANTONIO – The Fiesta San Antonio Commission unveiled the official 2015 Fiesta poster Wednesday at the Tobin Center for Performing Arts.
This year's poster was designed by local artist Antonio Barrera. Submissions were made to the Fiesta Commission's annual poster contest by 55 local artists.
"I credit my inspiration for the 2015 Fiesta Poster, ‘La Musica,' to my childhood experiences," Barrera said. "As a native San Antonian, Fiesta, music and art have greatly influenced my life and my art. Since I was 12 years old my love of music and art has grown increasingly imaginative and creative. Listening to music helps inspire my imagination and creativity. I credit my talented family and friends, especially my loving wife, Rachel, for being so supportive of my art."
Barrera has worked for the Law Offices of Pat Maloney as an artist and illustrator for 32 years. His artwork is displayed in numerous law firms across Texas as well as several art shows in San Antonio, including Una Noche en la Gloria at the Contemporary Art in the Culture Zone, the Lone Star Art Exhibition and Este es Mi Arte Art Exhibition, where he helped the elderly and disabled display their artistic talents.
The poster, along with the 2015 official poster medal, poster T-shirt and more, are officially on sale online and in The Fiesta Store at 2611 Broadway. The store is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
