Nebraska man accused of murder arrested in SA

Ary Soto, 19, arrested and charged with first degree murder

SAN ANTONIO – The search for a murder suspect from Nebraska has ended here in San Antonio.

Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested 19 year-old Ary Soto Friday night on warrants for murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Omaha, Nebraska police say Soto shot and killed Roberto Gonzalez on Jan. 22, then took off.

Task Force leader and San Antonio U.S. Marshal Robert Almonte says they believe Soto fled Omaha and headed to San Antonio with the help of family members.

Marshals in Omaha contacted the Lone Star task force and said they had information Soto was in San Antonio.

Almonte says his team investigated and tracked Soto to a friend's house here and arrested him. They also arrested the friend on a weapon charge.

"Tonight we were able to get two criminals off the street, with the SAPD (San Antonio Police Department) Gang Unit and the US Marshal service working together as a team to make sure we can keep the streets of San Antonio as safe as possible," said SAPD spokesperson Misty Floyd.

Police say Soto will be returned to Nebraska to face the murder charges.

Soto's friend will face a charge of felony possession of a firearm.

Omaha police have also arrested three other suspects in connection with the Gonzalez killing.

Angell Ortega is charged with murder, and two others are charged as accessories.
