2 men wanted in bogus Spurs ticket sales

BCSO: Scammers sold counterfeit tickets via Craigslist

SAN ANTONIO – Two men are being sought by Bexar County sheriff's officials in connection with the sale of more than $12,000 worth of counterfeit Spurs tickets.

Sherrif's officials said the scammers are accused of selling the bogus tickets through Craigslist.

The sheriff's office has received 12 complaints from people who bought the fake tickets from the men and investigators believe there could be more victims in Bexar County and around Texas.

Most of the transactions have occurred at various locations in downtown San Antonio, sheriff's officials said.

"It is so easy for the victim to think, 'Oh if he is a scammer he wouldn't be agreeing to meet me in person,'" said Rosanne Hughes with BCSO communications.

To guarantee safe, authentic tickets to all Spurs home games, fans should purchase tickets directly from Spurs.com, ATTCenter.com or the AT&T Center box office. NBATickets.com, launched by the NBA and Ticketmaster, also offers NBA fans a safe, secure place to buy and sell tickets for upcoming games, including available tickets from the primary market and tickets being resold by other fans.

"You don't want to be in a situation where you are spending a couple hundred dollars, then you can't get in the building," VP of Spurs Ticket Sales Joe Clark said.

Victims or anyone who may be able to identify the suspects should call the BCSO Criminal Investigations Division at 210-335-6000.
