Gonzales PD investigating 'pigeon drop' scam

GONZALES, Texas – Police in Gonzales are investigating a possible "pigeon drop" scam after a victim reported being conned out of a large sum of money.

The alleged victim told police two men worked together to get the victim to hand over a large sum of money.

Police said the victim was approached by a man claiming to have several thousand dollars that he couldn't take back to Africa, where he said he was from.

The victim told police the two suspects acted as if they did not know each other, before taking the victim's money and not returning.

Both suspects are described as black men in their late 50s. Police are searching for a black, mid-2000s Cadillac Escalade in connection with the scam.
