Man fatally shot by Kerrville police identified

KERRVILLE, Texas – A man who was shot and killed Sunday night by Kerrville police has been identified as Steven Boyd Norton, 47.

Police said Norton was killed after officers responded to the 1100 block of Linda Joy for a domestic disturbance report.

A woman called police around 11 p.m. after she said her husband, Norton, assaulted her and her daughter.

Officers tried unsuccessfully to contact Norton by phone. Police said he stepped out the house and fired at officers.

The four responding officers returned fire, hitting Norton at least once, police said. He was taken to a San Antonio hospital, where he died.
