NEISD Board of Trustees approves nearly $500 million bond

Bond to fund security checks, wireless network improvements and new band halls

The North East Independent School District Board of Trustees approved in a unanimous vote Monday a $499.95 million bond program.

The bond was designed based on input from NEISD principals, staff, parents, students, and community members by a Facility Steering Committee made up of 36 community members.

The bond projects include adding security check-ins, expanding the wireless network for technology devices, and expanding or replacing band halls and fine arts facilities at several middle and high schools.

The proposed bond project will be up for a vote during elections in November.
