Man shot after giving suspected shooter a ride on West Side

Victim drove to Culebra Meat Market to call for help

SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot Tuesday night on the city's West Side after giving the suspected shooter a ride, San Antonio police said.

The shooting was reported just after 9 p.m. Officers found the victim in his car in the 2800 block of Culebra Road at the Culebra Meat Market.

Police said the victim was driving a man to a house on San Ignacio Avenue. The passenger is who police are calling the suspected shooter.

"The suspect got out of the vehicle. Our victim was waiting, he got suspicious, a little bit nervous (and) decided to drive off. As he was driving away, shots were fired," SAPD Sgt. Steve Almanza said.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was hit at least once in the stomach area. Police said his injuries are potentially life-threatening.

He drove himself to the the area on Culebra Road where officers found him.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police.
