ALAMO HEIGHTS, Texas – A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a teen in Alamo Heights.
Police arrested Michael Teneyuque Monday night in the death of Tristan Compean (pictured, below), 17, whose body was found in the middle of a street Monday morning.
Teneyuque was charged with capital murder and was being held in the Bexar County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Sgt. Tom Vitacco of the Alamo Heights Police Department said they got a call around 2 a.m. Monday about a body in the 800 block of Alamo Heights Boulevard.
When police got to the scene, they found Compean's body. He had been shot several times, Vitacco said. Compean was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Vitacco said that Compean doesn't live in Alamo Heights, but he was attending a spring break party in the 6800 block of Broadway and left with several people.
Vitacco said the car didn't get far when witnesses heard gunshots.
"There was some type of arrangement, maybe to buy drugs and at that time, the suspects came over, the victim maybe got into a vehicle with them and at some point, shots were fired and the victim ended up outside the car in the roadway," said Vitacco.
Vitacco said that Compean and Teneyuque didn't know each other and that the victim was robbed.
Compean's mother, Jessica Alvarado, said her son, Compean, had been lured into the car.
"It was a like a set up and he ended up getting killed," said Alvarado. "I don't know the exact details. I don't even want to know. For a mother, it's too hard to know that your son was gunned down like that in the street."
Alvarado said her son loved her and his family and loved to spend time at the gym and that it is not fair that his life was cut short.
"He was a great older brother, a great son and this shouldn't have happened to him at such a young age," she said. "He still had his whole life ahead of him. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of my brother and his grandpa and join the army. His life was taken from him too early."
Alamo Heights police have identified the second suspect, and are working to track the suspect down.
"I'm just hoping that his killers are brought to justice and my son knows that his death wasn't just in vain and that we love him," said Alvarado. "And, that these people are going to be taken off the streets."
