Craigslist ad leads to recovery of $35,000 in stolen fireworks

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Deputies recovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen fireworks Saturday night.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said the manager of an Alamo Fireworks stand in the 11500 block of Potranco reported that sometime overnight Saturday about $35,000 worth of fireworks were stolen from the stand.

Deputies said an Alamo Fireworks employee spotted some of their suspected stolen merchandise for sale on Craigslist.

Deputies set up a deal to buy the fireworks and recovered several hundred dollars worth of fireworks and a stolen firearm. Thousands of dollars in fireworks were subsequently found at a nearby home.

Kelvin Payne, 30 was arrested and charged with theft of a firearm. Deputies said charges for the stolen fireworks is pending.
