Vigil held for Houston high school swimmer who died suddenly

SUGAR LAND, Texas – The outpouring of community support continues following the sudden death of a Fort Bend County high school senior this weekend.

Clements High School senior Brian Yuen died Saturday after swimming in a meet in Sugar Land.

Friends and family are honoring him at a vigil Sunday evening at Don Cook Natatorium. Students, teachers and coaches are emotionally broken over the sudden and tragic death of the gifted athlete.

Yuen was said to be universally loved at Clements High. He was a star on the swim team. He was less than a year from graduating from school.

Following the school swim meet, Yuen suffered some kind of traumatic physical event. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

His friends said they will never forget him.

Officials said that crisis teams will be at all FBISD high schools when classes resume Tuesday, but immediate support is being provided to the student's fellow athletes.
