Woman allegedly steals thousands of dollars in jewelry while cleaning home

SAN ANTONIO – Kelly Ahlfors, 38, is accused of stealing thousands of dollars' worth of jewelry from someone who tried to help her out.

An arrest warrant affidavit said that the victim reported the theft to San Antonio police in August. 

The affidavit said that the 35-year-old woman told officers that Ahlfors had asked her for work, saying that she needed money. She said she hired her to clean her home and do yard work.

Later, the woman said, she noticed some of her jewelry was missing. The affidavit said that she and a relative confronted Ahlfors who eventually admitted she took the items.

Police said Ahlfors returned a few pieces of jewelry, but they discovered she had pawned a pair of sapphire and diamond earrings and a sapphire ring worth $6.500.

Ahlfors was arrested Thursday on a charge of theft.
