Suspect arrested in shooting in Goliad County

Adan 'Adam' Briseno charged; Troy Eric Peuttus hospitalized at Brooke Army Medic

GOLIAD, Texas – A 44-year-old Goliad man was arrested in connection with a shooting late Sunday afternoon that left a Goliad man with a wound to the head.

The Goliad County Sheriff's Office said that Troy Eric Peuttus, 42, went to a ranch around 5:40 p.m. in the 16000 block of FM 2441 near the Bee County Line, where he confronted Adan "Adam" Briseno over an ongoing personal dispute.

Briseno fired several shots at Peuttus while the victim and three other people were seated in his pickup truck that was parked in front of the residence, sheriff's officials said.

Peuttus suffered a small-caliber gunshot wound to the head, sheriff's officials said. None of the other people were hurt.

Peuttus managed to drive about eight miles toward Goliad, where he pulled off the road and waited for help. He was airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and is expected to recover from his wound.

Deputies arrested Briseno at his home without incident.

Briseno was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
