20 illegal immigrants discovered in semitruck during smuggling attempt in Texas


LAREDO, Texas – Border patrol agents discovered 20 illegal immigrants concealed in the sleeper compartment of a semitractor-trailer just north of Laredo on Monday.

The driver of a 2012 black Volvo tractor truck consented to a search of his vehicle at a border patrol checkpoint.

Twenty people were found hiding underneath blankets and other miscellaneous items tucked behind the curtain of the truck's sleeper compartment.

The illegal immigrants and the driver, who is a U.S. citizen, were all placed under arrest.

After interviewing the subjects, agents determined they were citizens of Mexico, Brazil and Ecuador, according to a press release.

It was determined at the scene that nobody required medical attention and the truck was seized by U.S. Border Patrol.
