Here is how you can help federal government employees affected by shutdown

As the partial government shutdown stretches into a fifth week, there are a number of agencies ready to help furloughed federal employees. Many of those agencies rely on public donations. Here's how they say you can help:

Donate H-E-B and Walmart gift cards, restaurant gift cards and non-perishable food at 202 W. Frech Place or Guadalupe Community Center at 1801 W. Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also donate money online.

  • TSA Employees

Contact Liz Devries if you'd like to donate to TSA workers by email at mary.devries@tsa.dhs.gov or by phone at (210) 507-3160. Federal employees can't accept cash or tips. Gift cards $20 and less would be okay, but don't give them to TSA officers who are working. They're not allowed to accept "gifts from the traveling public."

  • Diaper Donations

 Email: help@texasdiaperbank.org  or visit www.texasdiaperbank.org.

  • Pet Food Donations

Donate to the SA Humane Society. The organization is offering a free bag of dog/cat food to furloughed federal workers.
