Police looking for Southwest Side teen in shooting of his father

38-year-old man shot 5 times, relatives say

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are trying to track down a teen who they say shot his own father at their Southwest Side home overnight.

Officers found the 38-year-old father outside his home in the 5500 block of Hayden Drive, off Old Pearsall Road, around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

They say he had multiple gunshot wounds in his abdomen.

He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

Police did not find his son, who they believe is responsible for the shooting.

Relatives told KSAT 12 the violence was the result of ongoing problems between the two.

They say things came to a head after the father scolded his son in front of his friends, telling him to turn down his music.

The family members say the father suffered five gunshot wounds and was still in surgery as of around 5 a.m.

They spent some time driving through the neighborhood, looking for the teen.

Police also used their helicopter to search the area but they did not find him.
