SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: The 72-year-old man who was killed after he was run over by his own dump truck Friday morning was identified as Greg Gamez.
He was found by one of his co-workers around 6 a.m. in a parking lot on West Hutchins near Zarzamora Street.
The man who found Gamez said he believes Gamez may have left his truck in drive before he got out.
The truck rolled forward, knocking Gamez down and running him over. It eventually crashed into another big rig.
No one else was hurt.
A man in his 70s has died after getting run over by his dump truck in the 1500 block of W. Hutchins Place Friday morning, San Antonio police said.
The man, who has not yet been identified by police, started up his dump truck to warm it up and when he got out of the truck it ran him over.
The accident happened in an area police believe people use to store their trucks, not at a business location.
Police said the man may have forgotten his dump truck was in gear. The story is developing.
