Man ejected, run over multiple times in deadly I-35 crash at Loop 1604

Live Oak Police Dept. is investigating

LIVE OAK, Texas – The southbound lanes of I-35 were closed for nearly 8 hours Friday morning after a deadly crash right before Loop 1604.

Live Oak police are investigating the crash, which involved multiple vehicles.

Police said that a man in a compact car was heading south on I-35 around 3:30 a.m. when he ran into a concrete barrier at Loop 1604. Other drivers stopped to help after the crash but one vehicle hit his car, causing him to be ejected from his vehicle.

Several passing cars ran over the man. Police say the first car that ran over him did not stop. They are still looking for that vehicle and the person in it.

Traffic on I-35 was backed up for several miles as drivers were forced to exit onto the access road just before Loop 1604. The lanes were reopened shortly before 11 a.m.
