Whataburger has announced that it is entering the Atlanta market.
The San Antonio-based burger chain on Thursday said it is planning for eight locations to open in that area in 2022 and 2023.

The two locations slated to open this year include 705 Town Park Lane NW in Kennesaw and 9766 GA-92 in Woodstock.
These won’t be the first in Georgia, though, as one is currently open in Thomasville, near the Florida state line.
“The Atlanta area is a great location for Whataburger, and we couldn’t be more pleased to make our entry into the community with our Kennesaw restaurant expected to open this fall,” Market Leader Jon Barideaux said in a news release. “We’ve had the good fortune of meeting quite a few of our new neighbors already, and we’ve already felt every bit of their hospitality.”
The restaurants expected to open in 2023 include:
- 503 Lakeland Plaza, Cumming, Ga. 30040
- SEQ Buford Dr and Exchange Dr, Buford, Ga. 30519
- 3321 Lexington Rd, Athens, Ga. 30605
- 3201 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, Ga. 30606
- 100 Pottery Rd, Commerce, Ga. 30529
- 15 Wallace Blvd, Dawnsonville, Ga. 30534
The new restaurants will bring in 1,400 jobs by the end of 2023, the release states.
“At Whataburger, we believe a great customer experience starts with an exceptional employee experience, which is why we value our teams so much and dedicate time to teach them the skills they need. Even without restaurant experience, leaders can succeed at Whataburger with the right attitude and leadership ability,” Barideaux added.
