Daughter of Uvalde school shooting victim calls mom hero after she ‘jumped in front of her students to save their lives’

UVALDE, Texas – The daughter of one of the teachers who was murdered at Robb Elementary School on Tuesday has released a statement calling her mom a hero.

Adalynn Ruiz is the daughter of 4th-grade teacher Eva Mireles — one of 21 victims of the Uvalde school shooting.

“Mom, I have no words to describe how I feel right now, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life,” Ruiz said on Facebook.

“I want everything back. I want you to come back to me mom. I miss you more than words can explain,” Ruiz said.

She shared that her mother “selflessly jumped in front of her students to save their lives” and thanked her for being an inspiration.

“I will forever be so proud to be your daughter,” said Ruiz.

According to Mireles’ employee page, she was an educator for 17 years and enjoyed running and hiking.
