According to police, Cantu was driving a GMC Yukon “erratically” in the eastbound lanes of I-10 near Hackberry when he lost control.

Police said the vehicle flipped over and he was ejected. Cantu landed in the main lanes of the highway where he was hit by a passing white Toyota Camry, authorities said.

Cantu was pronounced dead at the scene. SAPD said his passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The driver of the Camry stayed at the scene.

Police say before the crash, Cantu was swerving between lanes and driving erratically, causing him to lose control.
