Mother, child killed after being hit by vehicle on North Side, SAPD says

Driver appeared to be intoxicated, could face two charges of intoxication manslaughter

SAN ANTONIO – A mother and child are dead after being hit by a car on the North Side while in a crosswalk, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened in the 20500 block of Stone Oak Parkway around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses reported seeing a driver going at a high rate of speed, hit a curb, and hit the mother and child in a stroller on a crosswalk.

Police said the driver appeared to be intoxicated and was detained at the scene. He was taken downtown for further testing and questioning.

The man could face two counts of intoxication manslaughter, pending further investigation.
