Community gathers for vigil on Quintana Road to honor 53 human smuggling victims killed A memorial was created in the aftermath of the tragedy
SAN ANTONIO – It was the worst human smuggling tragedy in U.S. history.
Authorities discovered 67 immigrants inside a sweltering semi-truck on Quintana Road on June 27, 2022. The total death toll was 53, and one of the victims was pregnant.
A memorial created in the aftermath of the tragedy was the center of a vigil on Saturday morning.
