SAN ANTONIO – Damian Daniels, a combat veteran killed in a shooting during a two-minute struggle with deputies last week, was remembered during a vigil on Wednesday night with candles and concerns for those like him. “So many military (member) come home from combat or military service period with mental health issues,” Price said. Daniels was shot and killed by a BCSO deputy after three deputies responded to his home for a mental health call on Aug. 25. “I let them know my brother was going through paranoia and had a weapon and that he is a military vet,” said Brendan Daniels, Damian Daniels’ brother. FORT HOOD, Texas Fort Hood honored specialist Vanessa Guillen with a special service on Saturday, inside of the Spirit of Food Hood Chapel. Gloria Guillen, Vanessas mother, cried as she looked at her daughter, Vanessas, army photo. The familys Catholic priest was alongside her and later blessed the armory room, where investigators say Vanessa lost her life. Vanessas 16-year-old sister was also in attendance and spoke to attendees about her untimely death. Vanessa was a 20-year-old Army specialist stationed at Fort Hood who disappeared in April.

SAN ANTONIO A vigil for slain soldier Vanessa Guillen was held at Main Plaza in downtown San Antonio Sunday evening. Guillen was a 20-year-old Army specialist stationed at Fort Hood who disappeared in April and, according to an affidavit, was killed with a hammer before two suspects burned her body. Attendees showed up to stand in solidarity with Guillens family and honor her memory, demanding justice for her death, according to the description on the Facebook event. The military as far as I can tell didnt take her case seriously enough. She deserved better than that.Castro said the Congressional Hispanic Caucus is asking for an independent investigation into what happened to Guillen and also plans to request a congressional investigation into her disappearance at Fort Hood.

SAN ANTONIO – People gathered at Veterans Memorial Park outside of the Tobin Center on Friday night to hold a vigil for Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen. According to a criminal complaint, Guillen was killed by another Fort Hood soldier before her body was mutilated and buried. Larissa Martinez, with Circle of Arms, said she suffered sexual assault in the U.S. Air Force and wants to be a voice for Vanessa. "We have to tell our young kids, our young generation, when they are at the recruitment center. The group Circle of Arms plans to hold a march Saturday and gather at San Fernando Church on Sunday.

Convicted child abuser indicted for sex assault of 9-year-old child allowed visitations with son, 5
