San Antonio seeks resident input on city services, budget priorities

SAN ANTONIO – City leaders want residents’ input on city services as it prepares to work on its upcoming budget.

The city of San Antonio opened an online survey Wednesday, asking which services to prioritize in the 2027 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.

The survey will be open until May 1, and is available in English and Spanish.

San Antonio city leaders are in their second year of a three-year plan to reduce spending, while protecting essential services and maintaining a strong fiscal position, according to a city press release.

District 6 Councilman Ric Galvan said the 2027 fiscal budget will be “the harder one” during a city council meeting last year, where they passed a $4 billion budget for 2026.

The survey is only four questions regarding city services, plus an additional four demographic questions asking about your:

  • City council district
  • Race/ethnicity
  • Age
  • Sex at birth

City services include:

  • Affordable Housing
  • Animal Care Services
  • Code Enforcement (overgrown yard, vacant lots)
  • Domestic Violence Prevention
  • Fire & Emergency Medical Services
  • Flood Prevention
  • Garbage & Recycling Services
  • Homeless Services (outreach, shelter, encampment cleanups, housing)
  • Libraries
  • Nuisance Properties (repeating violations affecting safety)
  • Parks & Recreation
  • Pedestrian Safety
  • Police Services
  • Public Health (immunizations, restaurant inspections)
  • Senior Service Centers
  • Sidewalks
  • Small Business Support
  • Street Lighting
  • Streets
  • Youth Services
