NUECES COUNTY, Texas – Abraham “AB” Quintanilla III, the brother of the late Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla Perez, has filed a lawsuit against his sister Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga and two corporate entities.
The lawsuit accuses the two entities — Q Production, Inc. and Q Productions, Inc. — of denying A.B. his apparent contractual share of profits tied to Selena’s entertainment legacy.
The suit, filed Sept. 10 in Nueces County, Texas, seeks more than $1 million in damages and calls for a full financial accounting report of Selena’s entertainment properties dating back to January 2016.
According to the lawsuit, a family agreement known as the “Estate Properties Agreement” was signed in the months following Selena’s death in 1995.
The agreement entitled A.B. to 25% of net profits generated by Selena’s entertainment properties — which include her name, voice, image, likeness and other intellectual property rights.
The lawsuit also alleges that Suzette assumed operational control of Q Productions around 2016, following the gradual transition of responsibilities from their father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. Since then, according to the petition, A.B. has not received the contractual share of profits he is owed.
A.B. says he discovered the alleged underpayments in the spring of 2025 and subsequently requested a full accounting report from the defendants.
The suit states that the defendants have failed or refused to provide AB Quintanilla with the complete report.
The lawsuit brings claims of breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty. A.B. is also seeking attorney’s fees and a jury trial.
