SAN ANTONIO – Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages has completed a major expansion of its South Central Texas bottling plant.
The company marked the milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the expanded plant on the East Side, representing a $42 million investment and Coca-Cola Southwest’s commitment to San Antonio after 60 years of operation.
According to a news release, the expansion includes 170,000 square feet of new space, nearly doubling the facility’s size. Coca-Cola Southwest says the company installed a second production line to increase production capacity, and the added warehouse space will allow for more product to be stored.
The company explained the increased capacity will help them manage spikes in demand during holidays and fluctuations throughout the year.
Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, a Dallas-based company, is the local Coca-Cola bottler for Texas and parts of Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arkansas. The company says it provides Coca-Cola products to more than 31 million consumers across its territory.
Nearly 900 people work at San Antonio’s bottling plant. The company did not immediately provide additional details about new jobs or the timeline for full operations at the expanded facility.
