SAN ANTONIO – Want to have breakfast with some of San Antonio’s tallest residents? We’re not talking about the Spurs. We mean the giraffes at the San Antonio Zoo. And coming soon, guests will also have the opportunity to join Uma the hippo.
The zoo is offering “Beastly Breakfast” on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Guests will be served an all-you-can-eat breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, a yogurt bar, and pastries.

The breakfast also includes a private giraffe feeding and the opportunity to meet the zoo workers who take care of them. Starting Aug. 5, guests will also be able to dine with Uma the hippo in the Africa Live exhibit.
“Beastly Breakfast is a fun and unique experience for guests of all ages to enjoy,” said Tim Morrow, CEO and executive director. “Families can create one-of-a-kind memories by getting up close to these magnificent animals. Guest will have the opportunity to share the zoo’s passion for animal care, education and conservation, all while enjoying a delicious breakfast.”
“Along with the opportunity to have breakfast with giraffes, this newest installment of our dining experience will expose guests to and teach them about hippos, while offering yet another way to connect with nature and help to further our vision of securing a future for wildlife," Morrow said.
Visitors must make reservations and purchase tickets for the Beastly Breakfast. Tickets can be purchased online and start at $25 for adults and $20 for children 3 and older. Children 2 and younger are free.
