Special guests help greet kids at expanded Methodist Children's Hospital

SAN ANTONIO – Children spending their summer in the hospital were treated to a special surprise Tuesday when they moved into their new rooms.

Methodist Children’s Hospital's littlest patients officially moved into a new seven story tower.

They kids got dressed up in capes and were loaded into wagons, to make the move in a celebratory parade.

When the kids got to their new rooms, they saw Superman, Batman and Spider-Man washing the windows outside their rooms.

The new tower includes 147 rooms, a dedicated children's imaging department with a new state-of-the-art CT scanner, an ultrasound room and X-ray rooms. The expanded area added 15 new emergency rooms, bringing the total to 40.

Built in 1998, Methodist Children's was the first hospital in South Texas designed specifically with kids in mind.
