Texas man ‘improperly carrying a loaded firearm’ accidentally shoots, injures kids at restaurant, police say

A Texas man was arrested after his gun went off at a restaurant and injured people, including kids, police said.

Bastrop police said they received a call on Friday night about shots fired at the Casa Chapala restaurant in the 1800 block of Walnut Street.

Officers arrived and discovered that 28-year-old Jordan Centers was “improperly carrying a loaded firearm” and a “negligent discharge occurred,” according to a news release.

Multiple people, including juveniles, were injured by debris from the ricochet. They did not need to be hospitalized.

Centers, who is from the nearby city of Paige, was arrested and charged with deadly conduct and injury to a child, police said.

The case is under investigation.
