SAN ANTONIO – Updated at 3:10 p.m.:
Andira Abdelaziz, 35, was charged with murder in connection with the death of her nephew, Mohammed Abdelaziz, 25.
Original Story:
A sheriff's deputy had visited a far West Bexar County home just about a half-hour prior to a fatal stabbing at the residence.
Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesman James Keith said that the earlier call, which was placed around 8 a.m., involved the same man and woman involved in the stabbing later.
"We suspect that there was some sort of physical disturbance between the two," Keith said. "But when you have people who don't want to cooperate, it's hard to piece together all of those answers."
Keith said the deputy, unable to get any information from the pair or find enough evidence to make any arrests, wrote a report and left. However, he soon was asked to return to the home in the 12500 block of Dry Run.
"He was literally about a block or two away when some family members came running up to his patrol vehicle and said, 'You need to get back over there. They're at it again,'" Keith said.
He said that when the deputy returned to the scene, he found the man inside a car that had crashed into the front of the home, suffering from a stab wound to the chest. He died a short time later.
Keith said it was unclear whether the car hit the home before or after the man was stabbed. He said it appeared the man may have been trying to get out of the car when he collapsed.
Deputies arrested the woman who was still inside the home. She is expected to face a murder charge.
"We have to try to figure out now what this argument was over, why this led to a murder," Keith said.
As the news began to spread, numerous relatives arrived at the home. Many fell to the ground wailing. At one point, deputies had to physically restrain one man who ran into the middle of the crime scene, shouting that he wanted to see his brother.
"Naturally people are upset. They're concerned," Keith said. "But we have to maintain a secure area."
He said a chaplain was brought in to counsel the distraught family members. Bexar County also supplied a bus for relatives who were waiting for additional updates could escape the hot temperatures.
As of noon, the Sheriff's Office had not released the names of the two people involved in the stabbing.
