Local family-owned restaurant seamlessly blends barbecue culture with authentic Tex-Mex recipes

Their mac and Oaxaca cheese is the melty deliciousness you've been looking for

SAN ANTONIO – 2m Smokehouse is a family-owned restaurant that seamlessly blends barbecue culture with authentic Tex-Mex recipes.

Owner and pitmaster Esaul Ramos opened the barbecue joint last year with his fiancé, his mom and sister, and his best friend.

"I fell in love with (bbq) when I was young. As a Texan, you grow up barbecuing all the time," said Ramos.

Among other recent accolades, the restaurant is recognized statewide as one of the top 50 barbecue joints for 2017 by Texas Monthly magazine.

They have classic cuts on the menu like their brisket and ribs, but their house-made Oaxaca cheese sausage is next level tasty.

With barbecue this good, traditional side items and pickles and onions just won't do.

The macaroni and Oaxaca cheese dish is the melty deliciousness that San Antonio cheese fans have been looking for. It is topped with house-made pork rinds to add a crunch of porky, salty goodness.

Their other sides include pickled cactus, borracho beans and pickled bell peppers.

2m Smokehouse cooks up their own tangy barbecue sauce that pairs perfectly with the mild smoke flavor on their meats.

Barbecue is king in Texas and 2m Smokehouse is looking to take the throne.
