You've never seen carne guisada and cheese like this

Tex-Mex and BBQ Culture Combine at this Local Restaurant

SAN ANTONIO – King’s Hwy Brew & Q is way more than just BBQ.

Owner and pitmaster Emilio Soliz and his wife Christi opened the Tex-Mex bbq joint with the idea of offering San Antonio a fusion of two cultures.

"We wanted to marry the Hispanic Tex-Mex culture with BBQ culture," said Soliz.

All of the BBQ and side items are smoked and cooked daily, guaranteeing that customers will get a consistent product that’s fresh and never frozen.

"That's why we sell out sometimes. I don't have a bunch of it sitting in a fridge," said Soliz.

My favorite item on their menu is the grilled cheese carne guisada sandwich.

The sharp cheddar cheese melts and flows into the carne guisada and the grilled Texas toast provides a crunchy base.

Their brisket torta is packed with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, their house-made tomatillo sauce,  avocado, and topped with Mexican crema.

If you’re looking for variety, the four taco combo plate is what you need.

You can select four different types of meat or four of the same. I opted for four different types of meat, including their stewed shredded chicken.

I award Kings Hwy Brew and Q one of my top three favorite restaurants in San Antonio!
