SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County Sheriff’s Office detention deputy has tested positive for COVID-19, officials announced Thursday. On Tuesday, the deputy sought medical attention at University Hospital, where it was discovered the deputy suffered from pneumonia. The deputy was admitted to Baptist Hospital, and was later released after being tested once more for COVID-19. The inmates the deputy oversaw are believed to be at low risk of contracting COVID-19, according to the news release. COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the new virus, stands for coronavirus disease 2019.
