In a pivotal District 13-5A-D2 matchup, New Braunfels (5-0, 2-0) travels to face Boerne Champion (3-2, 1-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday at Boerne ISD Stadium.

Last season, the Unicorns had nine wins and four losses. They went 5-2 in district play while finishing their season as regional semifinalists.

The annual Wurst Bowl, between New Braunfels and New Braunfels Canyon, gives the tight knit community an excuse to put aside their life-long friendships and become a town divided.

With the return of many players, the Bears are looking to be playing postseason football in November and December.
