NEW YORK – The new PBS documentary on dancer-choreographer Twyla Tharp is called “Twyla Moves.” In retrospect, that sounds a bit weak. AdGiven all that, it would seem obvious that something like a global pandemic wouldn't force Tharp off course, or keep her on the sofa binge-watching Netflix. Tharp explains it simply: "Part of the adventure for me has always been a physical challenge." In one old clip, TV host Dick Cavett asks Tharp what she does to relax after a long period of work. Tharp didn’t want the film, directed by Steven Cantor and part of the American Masters series, to feel like a biography.

Tyson, who is not involved in the project, criticized Hulu on social media, saying the series smacked of insensitivity. “Hulu’s announcement to do an unauthorized mini-series of the Tyson story without compensation, although unfortunate, isn’t surprising,” Tyson said in an Instagram post. The eight-episode “Iron Mike” is from the makers of “I, Tonya,” the 2017 movie that starred Margot Robbie as ice skater Tonya Harding.

CARSON, Calif. Mike Tyson is coming back to boxing at age 54. The former heavyweight champion will meet four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition match on Sept. 12 at Dignity Health Sports Park. Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in history when he won the title in 1986 at age 20 and for a time was the most feared fighter in boxing. He has occasionally teased a return with workout videos and it's finally scheduled to happen. Jones, 51, won titles in the middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight before moving up to win the heavyweight title in 2003, becoming the first former middleweight champion to do so in 106 years.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska Just days after the announcement that famed trial attorney Alan Dershowitz would be the keynote speaker sparked a controversy among its members, the Alaska Bar Association has canceled this years annual conference. Bill Walker, Dershowitz seems a complicated selection for the keynote in Alaska, where rates of violence against women are among the highest in the nation. Im sure he was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to represent Jeffrey Epstein, Kendall said. I have no sympathy for that.Stone said the bar associations governing board will meet in September to discuss the selection process for keynote speaker going forward. Dershowitz said he would love to come to Alaska and give the keynote in 2021.

DALLAS An unopened copy of a vintage Super Mario Bros. video game has been sold for $114,000 in an auction that underscored the enduring popularity of entertainment created decades ago. A bidder who wished to remain anonymous snapped up an early version of the pioneering Super Mario Bros. game released in 1985 for Nintendo's NES console during an auction conducted Friday by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions. The $114,000 price eclipsed Heritage Auctions' previous record amount for a video game, which was a $100,150 bid made early last year for an unopened copy of the same game. The Super Mario Bros. copy that sold for a new record was part of a collection of video games from the 1980s and 1990s that sold to various buyers for nearly $700,000, which was well above Heritage Auctions initial target of about $500,000. Other titles auctioned off included Mike Tysons Punch-Out! a 1987 video game based on the former former heavyweight boxing champion, that sold for $50,400.

SAN ANTONIO Current Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver, Cyril Grayson Jr., and former Green Bay Packers safety, Mike Tyson, were in San Antonio for three days this past week putting on a youth football clinic with focuses on both skills training and character development. San Antonio served as the pilot city for this program titled 5th Quarter which is named for the extra effort needed to succeed in football and beyond. Grayson and Tyson hope to grow the clinic to the point where theyre working with after school programs and high school conditioning sessions.

Jamie Foxx's long-gestating Mike Tyson biopic is finally coming to fruition. The Oscar winner recently revealed that the project, which he's been working on for years, will soon become a reality, and he's gearing up to get into fighting shape. Foxx recently joined Mark Birnbaum on Birnbaum's Instagram Live series Catching Up, and he dished on the long-awaited project, as well as his own workout regimen. "I guarantee you people will run up on me in the street, and ask for autographs, and think that Im Mike," Foxx predicted, before showing a snapshot on his phone of the progress he's made toward getting into Tyson shape. "I think when we lay the layers on Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this mans journey."
